Field Notes

Description:

Hornet about 1 inch long, black with one large band of yellow on the abdomen, and yellow tibias.

Habitat:

In my garden.

Notes:

I never saw this kind of hornet before, neither did I find it in any of my books on European insects. The reason is simple, it is in fact an asian species, introduced in France since 2004 or before.
