Description:

The Roseate spoonbill is a long-legged wading bird with pink plumage and a large distinctive spoon-shaped bill. The two in the first picture were bathing. Pics 4-6 they are drying their wings. Pic 5 has an American white ibis and a Snowy egret (top right) as well. They obtain their pink color from their diet. (See reference for more detail).

Habitat:

Spotted at the South Padre Island Birding And Nature Center. There are several types of habitats here including salt and freshwater marsh, intertidal mudflat, wetland, and thickets.
