Field Notes

Description:

the biggest was about 5mm across. As you can see on 4th photo, the powdery top of the mushroom brushes off easily. The stem and the whole mushroom was very fragile. Growing indoors in a Geranium plant pot. geranium seedling was 'incubated' in a warm, moist 'greenhouse' for a couple of weeks. They were moved out and onto the windowsill were it is a bit cooler and probably less moist. Maybe after 3-4 weeks these mini mushrooms started to sprout! I've found a similar one growing on a cow pat once and I think also a similar one started sprouting when I brought home a jar of horse manure...!

Species ID Suggestions

thanks Antonio for the suggestion. I'm inclined to agree with Gully since it was VERY fragile. There are some more popping up so hopefully I'll post another comment when I get a SP. Cheers Gully!
When I saw the thumbnails I thought Marasmius too. But seeing that powdery finish to the top of the cap has put me off. As far as I know Marasmius species don't have veils of which this is surely the remnants. The stem also looks too fragile for Marasmius, so I think it must be a tiny Coprinellus species. Try taking a spore print Lipase if you still have access to the mushrooms. They're cool :-)
Great find Lipase,i think is a Marasmius sp,congrats and thanks for sharing
