Description:
The common ground cherry is a plant that is about 2 ft. high and 1 in. long. I found it on a field outside my school. It can bloom from May to September. Mammals avoid eating the leaves because it’s toxic to them but birds and other mammals will eat the fruit. It is in the same family as potatoes and nightshade.
Habitat:
Field on forest edge.
