Brown-rumped Seedeater
Crithagra tristriatus
8.92522, 38.7757
Field Notes
Description:
Small seedeater, about 12 to 13cm in length. Uniformly drab, earthy color, somewhat paler underparts; with a contrasting white supercilium and pale bill.
Habitat:
This seedeater is endemic to Abyssinian Highlands, including a corridor toward Erythrea and another corridor to coastal areas of Northern Somalia. In this area, it is common and widespread, and found in forests, fields, gardens - including the urban areas, like here - observed repeatedly around my client's office in central Addis Ababa.
Notes:
Previously classified as Serinus tristriatus, it has now been joined in a new (resurrected) genus Crithagra. Seem to be the 1st spotting on NOAH.
