Description:

Medium-sized woodpecker.The Red-shafted Flicker resides in western North America. They are red under the tail and underwings and have red shafts on their primaries. They have a beige cap and a grey face.

The Northern Flicker has 3 races; gilded flicker, red-shafted flicker, and yellow-shafted flicker. The gilded flicker is found only in the severe southeast of USA and the yellow-shafted is found only in eastern USA. this one is a red-shafted flicker. They all have the same scientific name but to be more specific you could add Red-shafted Flicker on common name ;) thanks! no biggie ;)
