Description:

Male clouded Apollo (Parnassius mnemosyne) foraging Vicia villosa.

Habitat:

Deciduous woodland clearing.

Notes:

Males after mating in order to prevent the females from remating and thus protecting their paternity deposit at the ventral side of the females a mating plug named sphragis (from Greek σφραγίς 'seal'). See a sphragis-bearing female in the same location at http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/696193768
