Field Notes

Description:

Family: Noctuidae, Subfamily: Amphipyrinae. Amphipyrine Sallow Moths. A common hairy medium-sized moth (Total length: 21 mm). Gray/Green FW sprinkled with white and mossy green scales. Large spot stands out from otherwise marbled pattern and resembles bark. Hosts: Ash tree.

Habitat:

Front lawn near woodlands. *Found mostly in woodlands or fields.

Notes:

Mostly nocturnal, but I found this resting in grass during the day.
