Field Notes

Description:

I saw these two together. The one on the right is a Snowy Egret. The one on the left is bigger and I have never seen a Snowy that big. But color, size and description I see a Little Egret, but that would be way out of range. If you look closely you can even see the head plumes on back of the head Please help.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

I’m no expert and have no idea if there are some escaped little egrets or something here in FL ( god knows we have everything else). But I would say those are 2 Snowy Egrets. I think I see the yellow-green stripes up the back of the legs on the taller one. The larger size may just be due to it being more stretched out and /or with feathers more fluffed up.
