Field Notes

Description:

The flower is a pale yellow color with 5 petals, 5 sepals, and 3 bracts. They hang upside down to prevent self-pollination; the flower can be seen in the 4th photo. The leaves are light green and modified into pitchers to attract insects to eat.

Habitat:

Found in a bog that had recently been burned. The pitcher plants responded very well to the fire and are growing back very nicely, that's why the pitchers aren't quite open yet.
