Description:

Brilliant reddish-orange with black spots, cigar shaped stocky body. Approximately 4.5 inches long

Habitat:

Wooded rural area crossing a paved road during rain.

It is when there is light on it. But at night, most animals are color blind and the red is seen as black. Great camouflage for them then.
Tennessee has a very rich amphibian diversity. We have 56 species of salamander and 21 frog species.
