Field Notes

Description:

Small cormorant, about 50cm in length and all black bird with black webbed feet. In non-breeding attire (here), the chin is white.

Habitat:

Seen close to habitation, perched in paddy fields, just around the time when these are being flooded and prepared for shrimp breeding season. Seen in a densely populated Peninsula of Teknaf, somewhere along the border.
