The deer's coat is a reddish-brown in the spring and summer and turns to a grey-brown throughout the fall and winter. The deer can be recognized by the characteristic white underside to its tail.

Habitat:

This picture was taken at the Ft Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Spotting was close to a lake, in a small clearing surrounded by canyon. White-tailed deer are generalists and can adapt to a wide variety of habitats. The largest deer occur in the temperate regions of Canada and United States.

Hi MadGrady. Welcome to Project Noah! Just a tip as you get started. For "Habitat" use the specific habitat of your spotting. Only you can provide that specific information, and that's what adds scientific value to your spotting. General habitat information can be found for species on many sites (e.g. Wikipedia). Read this advice and more tips on http://www.projectnoah.org/faq Looking forward to more of your spottings!
