What sort of size is this moth? If its small, say around 20 - 30mm wingspan then I'd tend towards the slug moths (family Limacodidae) but if its a bit bigger with a wingspan 30 - 50mm range then I'd start looking in the lappet/eggar moths (family Lasiocampidae)
