Field Notes

Description:

Identifiable by the spiny comb-like ridge along its back, and grey-green skin with brown accents and black stripes. A very large lizard, some growing up to 4.5 ft. This one was about 3.3 ft.

Notes:

Found near a resort in Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
Omnivores.
Spiny-Tailed Iguanas can run over 21 mph. They're the fastest lizards in the world!
