Field Notes

Description:

One of the most distinctive lizards of Southeast Asia.More often heard than seen.Males have an unmistakable loud call repeated several times Tok Heh.The females are silent.They can be up to 50cm. Tockays hunt at night on and around houses and trees,often comming for a free meal at my UV light as in the last pic.The third pic is a juvenile.
Their diet is mainly beetles locusts and large winged termites.

Unfortunatly hunted by the Chinese for contempory medicine
