Field Notes

Description:

I find these all of the time in warm weather through about november-december in churned up soil, such as for the garden. I never hurt them--they are too cute--but it has been bothering me for a good while that I can't find out what it is, exactly. This one was from my home yard in Arkansas, but I also had found them in the yard when I lived in Texas.

Habitat:

Rich, moist, dark soils.

Notes:

Has small dark hairs on its body and could change color to a pinkish brown tone.
