Field Notes

Description:

Tan to reddish orange crusty fungus growing on a stick - birch, I think. The stick had a diameter of 15-20mm.

Habitat:

Growing on a stick in a mixed forest with lots of oak and birch.

Interesting! You might be right! I posted it on Mushroom Observer last week, but so far no one knows what it is...But, your suggestion sounds intriguing for sure.
Very interesting! It almost looks like a dried up (young) version of Phlebia radiata (Wrinkled Crust Fungus)? Right now I'm stumped (no pun intended :P)! What do you think?
