Species ID Suggestions

Comments (3)

These parasitic Ichneumonidae wasps are very difficult to ID. You have to look at each spot, the colors of the legs (femur and tibia!) and the articulations, the colors, size and position of the bands on the body. Here are some more pictures of the same one (??) or similar but not identical ones if you consider the above mentioned criteria. I can't help you more and I am not sure if all the indicated Ids are correct! Closest guess would be Gotra sp. (genus mostly from Australia, India as well??) http://www.flickr.com/photos/bronking/4266917535/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/bronking/4267664730/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/89374715@N00/6084200649 Very similar, but note the mssing white band below the eye: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10131818@N08/3955361588 This is the same one like yours!! Unfortunately no ID: http://www.flickr.com/photos/63901419@N07/6333992105 Another Gotra, probably from Australia: http://www.redbubble.com/people/andrewtj/works/7150282-parastic-wasp-gotra-sp Different leg colors in Gotra sp. http://www.epiphytetree.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=151739530 Some more Aussie Gotra sp.: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_ichneumonwasps/BandedPupaParasite.htm http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_ichneumonwasps/BandedPupaParasite3.htm
