Field Notes

Description:

I am almost positive this is some sort of thrush and based on the region and characteristics of the bird I have narrowed it down to either a Hermit Thrush or a Swainson's Thrush. I am leaning toward the Hermit Thrush as they are the more common of the two but I am hoping someone can confirm.

This bird blended in extremely well with the leaves on the ground and dirt and was very difficult to spot. Great natural camouflage.

Habitat:

Suburban backyard

Unfortunately I did not here the call. Although it was a beautiful day I was taking these pics from inside my house. I had a limited time this morning and happened to notice the birds that i had never really noticed before and grabbed the camera.
That is my gut feeling too. Thank you for the input!
Given the distinctly reddish tail it's likely a Hermit Thrush. Oddly enough, I struggled with the same ID today in Massachusetts: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/21262105
