Field Notes

Description:

A new fruiting body of a Wood Ear, growing on a mossy fallen pine on a bed of moss. On a foraging note, they are best harvested young like this. They are edible, but the flavor is described as not very distinct. It is suggested to use in a mix with other mushrooms, being more of a texture food.

Habitat:

On a mossy unknown log after rains in hot weather.
