Field Notes

Description:

This bush was quite abundant in the Grand Staircase of the Escalante in Utah. The dark indigo flowers were small on the 2 ft bush. The bushes stand out since they grow apart from each other and the deep purple color is in stark contrast from the red rocks and the red sand in which they grow. Flowers form a pea like seed pod

Habitat:

Desert southwest! on rocky slopes
