Description:

about the size of an adults thumbnail.

Habitat:

Fir, Cedar, Grass, Beach

Notes:

I have never seen this before nor since. It was on Satuna Island, in the Straight of Gorgia.

LarsKorb, that is an interesting suggestion but I don't think they live in the right area. The resources I looked at says that the Pseudonemophas versteegi live in Asia and this beetle was found in Canada. Also, they seem to have much lighter color, different body shape and different color pattern. This is one page I found: http://www.cerambycoidea.com/foto.asp?Id=237 They are very interesting as well. I really like how Longhorn Beetles look even if some of them are major pests.
Genus Pseudonemophas of the Lamiinae family? The Pseudonemophas versteegi looks similar.
I would agree about it being a Longhorn Beetle. Possibly Synaphaeta guexi: http://bugguide.net/node/view/49819
