Field Notes

Description:

This gopher snake gave me quite a startle on a trail. I gave the snake enough room and used my zoom lens to take the photos. I was a nice sunny day and the snake was sunning itself and keeping an eye on me.

In the third photo is a "trail eye's view". This snake was over 4 feet in length.

Thanks! I was relieved to see that it was not a rattle snake. And happy that I could photograph this snake from a distance with enough room for it and for me.
