Description:

Sphingidae; Sphinginae; Acherontia lachesis (Fabricius, 1798). This is a late instar Green Form larva. There are only three Acherontia spp. and I think that they all have this distinctive kind of prickly tail horn..

Habitat:

This Greater Death's Head Hawkmoth was spotted in our backyard on Indian heliotrope (Heliotropium indicum Linn.), locally known as Trompang elepante
