Description:
This is the first specimen I have ever found of Tramella fuciformis. Looking at the pictures still give me a rush! It is a jelly mushroom, much like Wood Ear and Witch's Butter, but is the prettiest ghostly white. These are both edible and medicinal, most often used in Asia as the main ingredient in sweet fruit soups. They are even cultivated and sold. I did not sample my finding, but I hear they are more of a texture food, as they taste bland and soil-like on their own.
Habitat:
Found on oak rot or other common variety branch rot in an overgrown lot.
Notes:
It is also called snow fungus, snow ear, and silver ear fungus.
