Description:

Very large morel growing in loosely compacted, moist soil under sycamore trees.

Habitat:

Stand of sycamore trees, mesic soil.

Notes:

Found with at least twenty other morels surrounding this one mushroom.

Nice... the color is a tell, tell sign of how old they are. It's nice to have a few of your own hidden morel patches!
If they're in a place where I can be reasonably certain no one will find them, I like to let them grow a few more days (possibly up to a week depending on weather), and pick them just as they begin to redden.
