Thanks Jellis. I do remember an e-mail too.
Checked ebird and there hasn't been any spottings in the east bay and only a few in southern part of the bay a few years ago. I remember an email but not in the east bay.
Liam the major difference I saw from the previously spotted Brewers Blackbirds was that this bird was not as shiny. I will update it as Brewers for now.
We do have flocks of Rusty Blackbirds flying through California. Do not have the shot of the tail.
The "rusty" coloration in photo 2 looks like noise pixels from the camera to me, not actual feather pigment. A shot of the tail would be definitive, though.

Can't see the color of rust but it looks like a Brewer's Blackbird.
IUCN Conservation Status: Vulnerable . unusual sighting. Please confirm.
