Description:
A salamander with a bright orange underside, and a dark brown-orange upperside, Notophthalmus viridescens viridescens is found in large puddles, ponds, and creeks of Eastern North America. On the upperside, there are bright red spots. The underside has black speckles. This individual appears to still have some of the juvenile tail which helps in its aquatic stage.
Habitat:
Found swimming in a large puddle made by a farm vehicle.
