Field Notes

Notes:

One of the strangest organisms I've ever come across, Cedar-apple Rust is a fungus with a complex life cycle involving both junipers (red cedars) and members of the apple family. This fungus was found on a red cedar growing right next to an old orchard apple tree.

Very interesting! The photo #3 is just....wow!
I get this a lot on my cedars in upstate NY; wonderful photo!
Yeah this is pretty and weird too! I have lots of Western Red Cedars and also roses and apple trees. So far, I haven't seen this. Maybe it is not here in the Pacific Northwest!?
