Field Notes

Description:

A large bolete richly coloured in purple, orange and reds. 120mm across and 100mm tall. Classic pore structure. Very fat stipe, bulging more towards the base, also shades of red to purple.. bruising or cuts turn blue.

Habitat:

Median strip on suburban highway covered with eucalyptus, other native shrubs and gress.

Notes:

Boletus aff. satanus (ref Shepherd and Totterdell, 1987)
