Description:

Euchrysops cnejus (Fabricius, 1798), the Gram Blue, Gram Cupid, Five-spotted Pea-blue, is a small butterfly that belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family. Euchrysops cnejus cnejus (Fabricius, 1798), the Oriental Gram Blue, has Philippine distribution in Cebu, Leyte, Luzon, Palawan, Tawi-tawi.

Habitat:

Backyard, spotted amongst the weeds.

Notes:

Euchrysops Butler, 1900 (Plain Cupids, Gram Blues) is richly represented in the Afrotropical Region, but with only a single species in the Oriental, Australian and Pacific Regions - Euchrysops cnejus Fabricius, 1798.

Ssp. E. cnejus luzonicus Röber, 1886, has the following range: Philippines (Palawan, Cebu, Leyte, Luzon, Tawitawi), Kep. Sangihe, Kep. Talaud. But note that Treadaway (1995) includes all Philippine records within the typical subspecies, E. cnejus cnejus.
