Field Notes

Description:

They possess six limbs and a pair of mandibles (though not seen in the pictures due to quality and the fact it began to fall apart from decay). Their dorsal side has a line indention going down their center, while their overall shell being a solid brown.

Notes:

I found a bunch of these what seem to be beetles in our mailbox, which is posted onto the exterior of our houses porch wall. Unfortunately they were all deceased and started to rot and fall apart. I didn't check but I assume they're either excellent climbers or have wings because our mailbox is a good four feet off the ground.
