Field Notes

Description:

Deciduous shrub. Picture taken at late winter. Plant can grow to about 7ft, and has spindly branches. Leaves at this stage are small and plamated with 3-5 lobes. Leaves can have chemical smell. Flowers start to bloom before the leaves show. The flowers are dropping clusters pink to red colors.
Berries are a dark purple, edible

Habitat:

Partial wooded areas near water.
