Field Notes

Description:

Yellow blossom with five petals. Approx 3cm across. Smooth, eliptic leaves with longitudinal veins. Grows in small clusters.

Habitat:

These grew in Utah mountains at approx 6800'. They were growing near Aspen trees and Box-elder Maples.

Notes:

Seems very similar to Viola purpurea but leaves are very different.
