Field Notes

Description:

Very attractive and delicate looking fungi... about 100mm tall with a cap of about 12mm wide. A very delicate but long, translucent stipe. Cap black at centre merging through bronze to white at the margin. Gills free, white, adnexed. A small group of about 10. No filamentous mycelium around?

Habitat:

Wet eucalyptus forest floor.

Notes:

Species similar in the area are M.subvulgaris, M.marangania, M.albidofusca and several others. Conditions were deep dry with surface damp.
