Field Notes

Description:

It reaches a length of 8.5 - 13 mm. Elytra and head are black. Pronotum is black, with reddish or orange lateral margins. The adults feed on small insects, such as aphids, as well as on pollen of fruit trees. They can be seen in the period from April to.

Habitat:

This species can be found in most of Europe and in the East Palearctic ecozone. These beetles live in bushes, edges of forests, and meadows. My spotting was made on meadows next to the river Sava and they were really common there.
