Field Notes

Description:

Low growing annual wildflower. Bright yellow flowers that bloom mostly covered with a green bract (picture 2 shows flowers in bloom). Seeds look similar to small Dandelion seeds and are spread by wind and animals (and humans). Flowers are self pollinating. Leaves grow directly from the stem and have white, soft hairs.

Habitat:

Suburban business yard. Grows in disturbed areas often in areas where other plants won't grow.

Notes:

I was going to wait for the flowers to open on these plants until I realized that they were open! I'm glad I got pictures before they finished blooming.
