Field Notes

Description:

Small plant, with vertical green-bluish stems 10-15 cm, leaves on the same colour, spear shaped; the lower ones rose from the same point and the higher ones alterne, very close to the stem. It blooms in springtime, lonely flowers or in small groups at the end of the stem; they have two labellae, the higher one long and thin, blue amethist, and the lower one curved , almost white, with blue spots and a long spur facing downwards and also blue amethist.

Sandy prairie in a Holm oak forest
