Field Notes

Description:

Native to Africa, this scorpion is the largest of it's order. The man holding the scorpion informed me that these genus of scorpion is less venomous than most because they have no need of lethal venom. They have the largest claws in comparison to their size, which is used for hunting their pray.

Habitat:

I took this picture in Safari Edventure, a hands on private owned zoo.

i love emperor scorpions--they are pretty docile and probably never sting if you handle it well-

The handler said that their venom is like for a bee. Personally I still would not like to be stunk by them.

Wow, that is impressive! I've been stung but the small southern unstriped scorpion & although non-venomous, the stings are still pretty painful.
