Field Notes

Description:

Handsome gull about the size of a pigeon or a little larger, black head, read bill, and white "parentheses" around the eye.

Habitat:

Many individuals were floating and foraging in Prospect Lake, a large, artificial reservoir in Memorial Park near downtown Colorado Springs. The lake is stocked with trout; and is surrounded by lawns, residential neighborhoods, and some commercial buildings.

Notes:

One of the "inland" gulls. Formerly known as "Larus pipixcan."
