Field Notes

Description:

Animal very docile, despite having a reputation for dangerous animal. Sure, it can become dangerous depending on how it feels threatened.When in captivity, it is common feed the pythons with small rodents such as mice and voles young. This specimen has to be fed with 2 rabbits, when get older and/or larger, will be fed with calves.

Habitat:

The subspecies "Boa constrictor amarali" is found predominantly in central and northeastern Brazil. (Cerrado and Atlantic Forest)

Notes:

This specimen belongs to a class at my college about "handling snakes". Specimen from "Serpentário de Furnas" ("Serpentarium of Furnas")
