Habitat:

On an old dead log in wet tall eucalyptus rain forest.

Notes:

This ID highlights a problem... Wikipedia says it is in Australia and Atlas of Living Australia says it is not recorded here.

A very young one. A saprobic species, these cause a white rot of hardwoods and conifers. 'badius' derives from the Latin root badi-, meaning "reddish brown"
An interesting comparison to another polypore species in the same immediate area http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/21680076
