I agree, it does look like another one behind it. The pictures were taken from a boat on the river and I did not take any notes as I was too busy taking photos. I have enlarged the pic and there is indeed so there is another one behind. a hand at the end of a long arm and not a tail. The guide listed several species on that trip and I am fairly sure Pig-tailed was among them.

The trouble with that is what appears to be a very long tail draped across the branch behind it.

Some Maroon Langurs have greyish hands, on my pics they look pinkish and the body in shadow looks dark grey while that in sunlight appears pale brown. The following are the only species I can find recorded from Sabah: Cephalopachus bancanus Western tarsier common name: Kera hantu Presbytis hosei Hose's langur Presbytis rubicunda Maroon langur Trachypithecus cristatus Silvered langur Nasalis larvatus Proboscis monkey Macaca nemestrina Pig-tailed macaque Hylobates muelleri Müller's Bornean gibbon Pongo pygmaeus Bornean Orangutan .

Hi Tukup, thanks for your suggestion. I have checked the range of the species you suggested and it does not include the island of Borneo where this one was seen. Sabah is part of East Malaysia which is geographically separated from West Malaysia by the South China Sea. I will check the Borneo species list to see if other similar species are present in Sabah.
