Description:

Medium sized heron 23-28" . Black crown & back , gray wing & tail , white face & under parts , red eye. Large plemes at nape.

Habitat:

Brackish marshes & freshwater habitats

Notes:

Saw single bird next to water in the morning staying still for many minutes.
