Field Notes

Description:

Their skin color can vary but is usually greenish-brown and bumpy. They grow to be very large and are voracious predators, but this was a young one. They have a fold that extends from the back of the eye just to the tympanum, where it wraps around to the bottom of the body; this separates it from the Green Frog.

Habitat:

They are native to the southeastern US, but have been introduced to many other continents where they are out-competing the native amphibians. This guy was found on the bank to a small pond.
