Field Notes

Description:

A gall, is all I know. It was attached to a thorny red berry bush. Not sure of the berry bush. Very kewl. Need to take more photos this Summer when the berries appear.

This thing fascinates me.
Thank you J. I didn`t find an insect in there... just a tunnel where an insect had been. Like a hollow place inside.
If you found an insect in there, it is most likely a gall! Nice find! Once you are able to identify the plant the gall was found on, it should not be difficult to narrow down the species of insect on the gall.
