Field Notes

Description:

An adult green frog will be about 5–10 cm (2.0–3.9 in) in length, excluding hind legs. Males have a tympanum twice the size of the eye. The female's tympanum is closer to the same as the eye. These frogs have dorsolateral ridges that run down the sides of the back unlike a bullfrog with which it is often confused.

Habitat:

Green frogs live in the eastern half of North America, usually within a single leap of a shallow pond in which it breeds and escapes predation.
