Field Notes
Description:
24" tall
All white, long neck, bill slender and black, lores yellow. Long black legs with yellow feet ("Golden Slippers")
During courtship, long lacy white plumes on back, chest, and crown.
Immature- legs are dark green.
Nests- in colonies.
Vocal- Harsh "Aah"
Habitat:
Marshes and ponds
April thru Oct., coast from central Maine south; disperses inland in late summer.
