Description:

This snake was about 15 cm long and I took it away from 2 kittens that had found it in leaf litter. The neck ring is bright orange and clefted in front of the head. The underside was white and black and the body scales were very dark smokey grey. Family Colubridae. In the reference, it is mentioned that they eat earthworms and slugs.

Habitat:

Naturally wooded area, semi-urban, outskirts of San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

So cute! Glad you saved him from the kitties :)
Thank you Ingrid, Ring Necks love to show their bellies! This one is very secretive and nocturnal.
